GLADYS ENID (QUAIFE) HARESTAD

Gladys passed away in Kamloops at the age of 85 on December 30, 2010.

Survived by her daughters Melody (Jack) of Kamloops and Alison (Avtar) of Kamloops; sons Richard (Judy) of Kamloops, Alton (Kristy) of New Westminister, and David (Ionne) of Kamloops; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; her brother Dick (Audrey) and three sisters Marianne (Pat), Darlene (Reg), Dennise (Wayne); nieces, nephews and many friends.

Predeceased by husband Ingram, parents Ethal and Dave Quaife, daughter Anna Gordon and son Frank Johnson.

Gladys was born and raised in Cranbrook, B.C. on March 10th, 1925. After a whirlwind courtship, Gladys and Ingram tied the knot that still holds them together. Together they raised seven children. Gladys and Ingram moved to Kamloops in 1968.

She was always there to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was one of the founders of the food bank in Kamloops and was on many committees for helping people. She spent a lot of her time helping out at the Mount Paul United Church. She was on the Women's Committee and spent many hours working in the thrift store and the kitchen of the Church. She also helped with the Lunch Program at John Todd School. She was always baking something for some project at the Church or some charity.

Gladys spent a lot of her time in her garden which she loved. Family and friends meant everything to her. She was one great lady who will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mount Paul United Church on Saturday, January 8th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend LeAnn Blackert officiating.
