
William Gamble
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Douglas Gamble, 56, Amherst, which occurred on the evening of Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the QE II Health Sciences Centre, VG Site in Halifax following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Burgess) Gamble. He was employed at the Amherst Walmart since the store opened as the electronics department manager. Besides his work, Bill was an avid golfer and member of the Amherst Golf Club as well a devoted Maple Leafs fan and had a great interest in the history of the Second World War. Bill was a kind, wonderful man and will be remembered for his sense of humour and profound wit. One of Bill's dreams came true as he and his sister, Donna, went to England for a vacation in September 2010. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his special sisters, Jane Gamble and Dora Ibbitson both of Amherst, Mary Gilroy, Springhill and Donna Gamble, Halifax; as well as his best four-legged friend, Maggie. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Robert. Cremation has taken place. No Visitation. Funeral service for Bill will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
