Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 31, 2010. Loving husband of the late Diana Jean. Beloved father of Kim (Kevin), Karen (Geraldo) and Kelly (Peter). Proud Grandpa (Ga) of Jason and Jayme. Cherished brother of Noreen (Urban) Williams of Burlington and Ralph (Marguerite) Duffy of Kinkora, P.E.I., and predeceased by his three sisters and two brothers. Dear Uncle Aust to many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Born in Kinkora, P.E.I., in 1928, James left at the age of 14 and eventually settled in Toronto where he met and married the love of his life Diana in 1954. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters. James was very proud of his girls and will always be remembered as a caring and loving father. A consummate gentleman, James was known for his kindness, strength, wonderful sense of humor, the love of his garden and the passion he held for both politics and hockey (the Habs). James will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Scarborough Hospital Oncology Clinic, St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare. Very special thanks to Dr. Issar and Linda for the many years of dedicated and compassionate care.
Family and friends will be received at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave E., Scarborough, on Wednesday, January 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 3170 St. Clair Ave E., Scarborough, on Thursday, January 6, at 10 a.m. Interment and reception to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
