Florence Elizabeth Cave

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Cave, formerly of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, who died peacefully on November 24, 2010 at the age of 97 in Calgary.
Florence was born in Moose Jaw on March 3, 1913. She spent her childhood years in Aneroid and her high school and later years in Moose Jaw. For the last 10 years she had resided in Calgary amongst family and friends, primarily at the Beverly Center in Midnapore. Florence married George Cave in 1932 and she leaves behind their 3 children, Joanne Busenius of New Sarepta, Alberta, Carolee White and Greg Cave (Judy) of Calgary, Alberta. In addition to her children, she is survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Eleana Howlett, husband George Cave, sisters Dorothy Gillett and Lillian Taylor, her grandson Michael Gallagher and special friend Allan Brown. Florence was also predeceased by 3 loving sons-in-law, Ed White, John Skinner and Ron Busenius. In her younger years Florence worked for G.R. Trethewey, Macdonald's Consolidated (Safeway), Boris Dubinsky; and later for many years at Ward's Transfer. Florence and George were long time members of St. Andrew's United Church where Florence also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the June Circle and was a Girl Guide and Brownie leader. In Calgary she was a member of the Red Hat Society. Cremation has taken place; and a memorial service will be held at St Andrew's United Church on May 20th, 2011 at 2 P.M. followed by internment at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw.
In living memory of Florence Cave a tree will be planted in the Memorial Forest at Fish Creek Provincial Park, Calgary Alberta by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel.
