Reg Veinot of Garnett Settlement went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 4, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born 1930 in Round Hill, Nova Scotia to the late Henry and Mary Etta (Chute) Veinot. Reg was a proud army veteran. Later in his career he worked as a truck driver and heavy duty mechanic. He worked for Brunswick Petroleum for over 38 years retiring in 1985. Some of Reg's many hobbies were working in his carpenter shop and driving his # 6 stock car. He was well known as the "The Big Onion". At the age of 74 Reg was proud to be one of the winners of the "Historical Racing Series" in 2004. Reg was a very devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey (Garnett) of Garnett Settlement, daughter Valerie Anderson (Douglas) of Hampton, sons Brian "Kipper" (Angie) of Passakeag, Blaine (Marilyn) of Upham, Christopher (Sharon) of Saint John and Wayne (Melanie) of Upham, step children Kimberley Harrison (David) of Ontario, Kelly Buckley (Stephen) of Garnett Settlement, Scott Heaysman (Tracy) of Garnett Settlement, Todd Heaysman of Saint John, Michael Heaysman (Patsy) of Grove Hill, Wayne Dionne of Upham, Joseph Dionne and Ronald Dionne both of Saint John, brother Stanley (Isabelle) of Ontario; sisters Millie Goucher of Ontario, Dorothy Stewart of Nova Scotia and Minnie Veinot of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; many great-step grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his first wife Rosalind (Amero) Veinot; second wife Theresa (Dionne) Veinot and his son James Veinot.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday and Thursday January 5th and 6th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Legion Tribute to begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday January 7th at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
