The death of Herbert Edward "Ed" Young of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, January 3rd, 2011. Born October 27th, 1929 the son of the late Herbert and Euphemia (Curtis) Young. Ed is mourned by his wife Janet C. (Trythall) Young, their son Graeme, his wife Margaret (Lamrock) and two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Taegan of Miramichi, NB. Also mourned by brother Harry (Morag) of Paisley Scotland; sister and brother-in-laws, Cecilia and Jerome Dennis of Riverview, NB, and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews of Canada and Scotland. He was predeceased by his sister Doreen of Paisley Scotland. Ed was a career soldier serving in the British and Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Medical Corps. Following his retirement from military service, he held several positions at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and the DVA. Ed was actively involved in the Fredericton Amateur Speed Skating Club and the NB Speed Skating Association. He served for several years as the Treasurer of the Provincial Association. Ed enjoyed working with wood. He was an accomplished wood carver; he and his family built a cottage, which they used for many years. Ed took pleasure spending time with family and friends.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place on Friday, January 7th, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel with Fr. Aaron Knox officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery in the spring.
