SR MARY WILMA MCPHEE
Sr. Mary Wilma McPhee, 93, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax.
Born in Glace Bay, C.B., Sister was the daughter of the late John and Ada (Roach) McPhee.
Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity in 1936. Following her religious profession in 1939, Sister lovingly touched many lives during her 40 years of teaching small children in North Sydney, New Waterford and Glace Bay. Sister also taught religious education classes at St. Augustine's Church in Sydney.
Besides her Religious family Sister is survived by a sister, Ruth (Laird) McLean; Calgary; sister-in-law, Georgina; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and extended family who were very special to her.
Sister kept in close contact with every member of her family, never missing a birthday, anniversary or family gathering. She also attended many hockey games, concerts and award nights in which her grand nieces and nephews were involved.
Many of Sister's former students also kept in contact with her over the years.
Besides her parents Sister was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda (John) Miles, Zita McDonough, Sarah, Mary (Bernard) Holland, brothers, Joseph, Henry, Arthur, stepsisters, Lillian (Thomas) Bonnar, Natalie Miles, stepbrother, William McPhee.
Visitation for Sister Wilma will be held at Caritas Residence, Halifax on Thursday, Jan. 6 from 3-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Chapel of Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
