It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Stephen Francis MacAdam on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Roderick and Josephine (MacNeil) MacAdam.
Pender was a longtime resident of Seaview Manor; an active parishioner for many years at St. Anne's Church; an engineer with the S&L Railway; a small business owner; a board member with the Glace Bay Central Credit Union; member of the school council and active in the political community.
Steve will be sadly missed by children, Michael (Anne MacAdam), Mira, Stephen (Kathy MacLeod-MacAdam), Glace Bay, Joan (Vince Nickelo), Shubenacadie, and Delores MacAdam, Ottawa; grandchildren, Patrick, Jacyln, Laurel and Andrew, Matthew and Grant MacAdam, Alex, Geoffrey, Laura Ann and Sarah Nickelo and Victoria Cowell. He will also be missed by his brother, Alex MacAdam and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Donald, Roddie, Mary, Anna and Dorothy 'Dot.'
There will be no visitation. Funeral under the direction of Curry's Funeral Home, Glace Bay will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment at a later date in St. Anne's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's memory may be made to the Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
