Clarence Leon Kaulback
Kaulback, Clarence Leon, 98, of Truro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro, with his loving family at his side. Born in Falkland Ridge, Annapolis County on Sept. 9 1912, he was the son of the late Stanley & Emily (Berringer) Kaulback. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years; Lena Martha (Oickle) (Truro), Daughters; Jewell Crowe, Marsha (David) Johnston, Kathy (Pat Cook) & Cindy (Greg) Johnson, (all of Truro). 5 Grandchildren; Michael (Angela) Johnston, Crissy Crowe (John Chapman), Stephanie (Todd) Wallace, Brian (Allison) Johnson & Mitchell Johnson; & 6 great grand children, Sarah, Samuel, Matthew, Abby, Jacob & Molly. He is also survived by sisters, Jean Lowe (Deep Brook), Dorothy (Lawrence) Cook, (Falkland Ridge) & Arlene (Peter) Vogel (Courtney, B.C.) He was predeceased by brothers, Gordon, Arnold, Burton, Clyde, Ray, Ralph, sister Violet, & granddaughter Lisa Crowe. He was a past member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, and a member of Brunswick St United Church in Truro. He worked in the forestry industry his entire life, retiring at age 65 after 43 years with the Riversdale Lumber Company. He was a very soft spoken, kind natured man who loved the out doors, his family (especially his great grandchildren), his many dogs and his most treasured garden.Visitation will be held 7-9pm Friday January 7, and funeral service 11am Saturday, January 8, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Rev. David Lutes officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Donations in lieu of flowers to Brunswick St. United Church or a charity of your choice.
