Passed away at Escasoni Nursing Home on December 23, 2010, Janet Matthews Forward, aged 96 years. Predeceased by her parents Willis and Ida Tulk, sister Juanita, husband Hayward H. Matthews (1988); husband Roy Forward (1997); son-in-law, Joseph P. Collins (2009). Left with precious memories, daughter Roselyn (Lyn) Collins, St. John's, grandchildren Joseph Rousseau (wife Lynda), Singapore; Tracey Rousseau (Stephen Gombosi) Boulder, CO; Nicole Rousseau (David Andrews), St. John's; daughter Janet Fay Matthews (husband Geoff Fowlow) Arnold's Cove; son Rob Matthews (wife Mary), Hubley, NS; granddaughter Cecilia Matthews (Jimmy Justice), great-grandson Blake Justice, Burlington, WA; son Garry Matthews (wife Sandra), Clifton, NS; grandchildren Andrew Matthews, great-grandson Ryan Matthews, Brantford, ON; Sarah Sorensen (husband Andrew Sorensen) great-grandson Jack Sorensen, Milton, ON; Jill Matthews (Mark Chappell), Halifax, NS. Best friend, Nathan Penney and his children, Frank and Mavis; the Forward family, Janice, Brenda, Deanne, Valerie, and their families; the Collins family, Nigel Collins; her friends and the staff at Meadow Creek Retirement Centre where Janet resided for 5 1/2 years, and many relatives, friends, and her sisters in Beta Sigma Phi. A special thank you to the staff at Meadow Creek, and Escasoni Nursing Home for their kindness and loving care. At Janet's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held from George Street United Church on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Jimmy Pratt Center at George Street United Church, The Gideon's or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Barrett's Funeral Home.
