It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Tony, on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (MacDonald) O'Neill.
A highlight of Tony's early years was travelling across Canada and teaching youth in Northern Alberta. In his later years, Tony found fulfillment as an active and valued member of Terrace Manor. His involvement in this community, where he resided for 26 years, brought Tony much happiness.
Tony is survived by his siblings, Anna (Alfie) Kubik, Glace Bay, Joan (Ray) McNeil, Toronto, Ont. and Vince (Dorothy) O'Neill, Brantford, Ont. Also surviving Tony are his many nieces and nephews who will remember him for his kind and gentle smile.
Tony was predeceased by sister, Teresa and brothers, Bill, Jack, Cecil, Martin and Michael.
There will be no visitation. A mass celebrating Tony's life will be held at Saint Anne's Church on Monday, Jan.10, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
Prior to the mass, family will receive friends starting at 9:30 a.m. in the foyer of the church. A reception will follow the service.
Donations in Tony's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
