Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, January 8, 2011, Stella Eugenie Howell of Carbonear, age 92 years. She was the daughter of the late William W. and Ella (MacDougall) Reid of Sydney, NS. Stella was a long-time resident of Sydney and her entire working career was in CSR at St. Rita's Hospital, Sydney. Later in life, she met and married Frederick Howell of Carbonear and adopted Pike's Lane as her new home. Stella was predeceased by her husband Frederick. As the last remaining member of her immediate family, Stella was predeceased by brothers, Bill, Robert and sister, Helen; as well as predeceased by her life-long friend, Isabel Maxner of Halifax, NS. In recent years, Stella was a resident of Luxury Estates Retirement Village where she will be remembered for her gentle ways and endearing smile. She is survived by sister-in-law, Doris (Eugene) Sampson; nieces, Marion and Helen; nephews, Manning, Gordon and Donald and cousins across the country from Cape Breton to Northwest Territories.
