HILLSIDE - Linda Jane Smith, 67, Hillside, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Hillside, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Edith (Jamieson) Horton.
She was a member of the former St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Trenton. A devoted homemaker, Linda enjoyed music and the great times and kitchen parties shared with friends at the D & B Camp Ground over the past 25 years. She had been co-lead singer with the former County Rock band, The Hillsiders, where she shared lead vocals with her husband, Shelly.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Shelly; daughters, Tracy (Darren), Hillside; Tanya (Craig), Stellarton; grandchildren: Kevin, Ryan, Alicia, Emma and an expected grandson in February; great-granddaughter, Deirdre; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Carmen and Vessey.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Linda's memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
