Wheeler, Marianne (nee Verwoerd) - Marianne Wheeler, 56, of Plympton, NS died Friday, January 07, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer. A loving wife, mother and "Nana", she is survived by her husband of 37 years Peter, daughter Julie Starkey (Tim) of Indianapolis, Indiana, son Jason Wheeler (Carrie) of Sackville, New Brunswick, mother Mrs. Trudy Vanlieshout of Brampton, Ontario, three brothers Rob Verwoerd, Dave Verwoerd and Ron Verwoerd of Oshawa, Ontario and four grandchildren Kelsie, Blake, Logan, Emma. Her father Hank Verwoerd preceded her in death.

Marianne was born in Rotterdam, Holland August 1, 1954 and immigrated to Canada with her family as a child. A graduate of Anderson High School, she grew up in Whitby, Ontario. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, crafts, nature and animals.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11am at Salem Baptist Church, 234 East Main Street, Sackville NB, E4L 3A9. Donations can be made to local animal shelters in her memory.
