Watt, Norman "Douglas" (Doug), 92, Truro - passed away on January 7, 2011 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Moncton, N.B. he was the son of the late George R. and Sarah (MacPhail) Watt. Educated in Saint John, N.B. he attended the Modern Business College in that city. He was employed in the automobile industry and later joined the YMCA War services. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Canadian Armed Forces both in Canada and overseas, attaining the rank of Captain in the Infantry. He operated Major Adjustment Bureau Ltd. and had several insurance offices in central Nova Scotia. He was a member of the United Church of Canada, first at St. Andrews United Church and later at First United Church in Truro where he was a member of both choirs. He also was a member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs of Truro and was President of the Maritime Independent Adjusters Association and the Canadian Independent Adjusters Conference. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 26, Truro and was a volunteer with the VON, Truro, as a vehicle acquisition coordinator for many years. He is survived by daughter, Beverley (Royce) Boutilier, Truro; son, Sandy (Lynn), Onslow Mountain; grandchildren, Sue (Allan Cullen) Boutilier, Camden, Andrea Boutilier, Halifax, Joshua Watt, Onslow Mountain; nieces, Deborah Watt, Dawson Creek, B.C., Sarah Campbell (David Livingstone), Brookside, N.S., Catherine Mooney (Terry), Pouce Coupe, B.C.; nephews, John Hartshorn, Ontario, David Hartshorn, Dartmouth, N.S. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma M. (Hill); sisters, Pauline Hartshorn, Janet Watt; brother C.R. (Bob) Watt. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 beginning at 2 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Judith Perry officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Truro Branch or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Truro. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the staff on Garden Road at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their care of Doug over the past three years.
