It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Dinn, 48, of St. John's, announces his sudden and unexpected passing at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Mike was a wonderful, warm and loving person who will be missed immensely by his family and many friends. His sense of humour, kindness, his love of nature and curiosity about everything made life better and richer for everyone who knew him. Mike was a well-loved teacher at Holy Trinity High School in Torbay and touched the lives of his colleagues and students alike.
Mike is predeceased by his father James and his daughter Mallaidh (Molly). He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia (Porter); sons, Sam and Kipp; mother, Mary; brothers, Jim (Michelle and children, Kathleen, Sarah and Jamie), Paul (Jennifer and children Amanda, Lauren, and Morgan), and John (Darlene); sisters, Mary (John Bishop), Cathy (Keith Deering and children Maggie and Keegan), and Maureen (Rob and children Patrick and Kathleen). He will also be deeply missed by parents-in-law, Stan and Phyllis Porter of Northport, Prince Edward Island; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Merryman and children Tarun, Hayley and Cameron) of St. Anne's, P.E.I.; Kevin (Jill and children Kayl, Hayden and Karch) of Coleman, P.E.I.; sister-in-law, Chris (Phil and children Emily, Joseph, Aaron and Luke) of Fredericton, N.B.
Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, 2009 (2-4 and 7-9 p.m.). Funeral service to take place at St. Patrick's Church, Patrick Street, on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow; interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make donations in Michael's memory to the Sam and Kipp Dinn Educational Fund at any branch of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
