It is with great sadness that the family of Wanda Anne Christie, announce her peaceful passing on January 11, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Millville, NB on June 28, 1947, the daughter of the late John William Martin and Annie Evelyn (McGuire). Wanda was employed by the federal government for several years. She was an Employment Insurance Adjudicator; a position from which she retired. Previous to her tenure with the federal government, she was employed as a personal secretary to Fr. Martin at St. Thomas University. Survived by her four children; Lisa Sullivan of Nasonworth, NB, Trina Kitchen (Michael Côte) of Rothesay, NB, Sean Kitchen (Ashley) of Vancouver, BC, Wayne Christie (Trisha Crouse) of Fredericton, NB, Wanda is also survived by eight grandchildren; Michael and Victoria Jones, Sydney and Jayden Sullivan all of Nasonworth, NB, Rylee, Alexie and Jaye Côte, all of Rothesay, NB, Amanda McAfferty of Fredericton, brother Frank Martin (Carol) of Nackawic, sisters Mary Williams (Bob) of Riverview, NB, Linda (Brian) Walker of Sussex, NB, several nieces, nephews and aunts. Besides her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her husband of 21 years; George Austin Christie, her parents-in-law Austin and Marion Christie and brother-in-law Gerald Christie. Wanda was a highly organized individual who adhered to drafting lists for task completion; she had lists for everything. She loved sewing, crafts and scrapbooking; this gave her great pleasure and satisfaction. Wanda loved hosting family and friends in her home and was happiest when her house was full. She immensely enjoyed Christmas with cooking, shopping and decorating for the festive season. Wanda was an active participant in her faith and her belief in God. If asked, Wanda would say her greatest priority would be her love and devotion to her family and friends.
Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, with visitation on Thursday, January 13 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Wanda Anne Christie will be held on Friday, January 14th from Holy Family Catholic Church, Hanwell Road at 12:00 noon with Fr. J. J. Dolan officiating.
