Abbott, Robert Brooks - 84, Bass River. He was born on July 11, 1926 and passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Bob worked most of his early career at Ontario Steam Lines and on returning to Nova Scotia he was employed by the Bass River Chair Factory. Bob was also a volunteer fire fighter with the Bass River Fire Dept. for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Gamble); stepchildren, Ronnie Patriquin, Brian Patriquin, Gayle (Gary) Vance, Terry (Sherry) Patriquin, Judy (Bill) MacLaughlin, Cindy Grue; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Downing, Barb (Bernie) Gill; brothers, Neil (Aldene) Taylor, Doug Taylor. He was predeceased by foster parents, Ida and Thompson Morrison and Jean and Archie Taylor. No visitation or flowers by request of the family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January16th at 7:00 pm in Riverside United Church, Bass River with Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating.
