Marguerite Bellefontaine

Sister Marguerite Marie Bellefontaine, in religion, Sr. Marie Héléna du Sacré-Coeur, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Monarch Hall in Riverview, NB at the age of 91 and in the 66th year of her religious profession. Born July 27, 1919 in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Léon Bellefontaine of Havre Boucher, NS, and of the late Helen Cecilia Casey of Tralee, Ireland. Besides her religious family, she is survived by three sisters: Sister Stella Bellefontaine, f.j., her twin sister of Monarch Hall in Riverview, Sister Agnès Bellefontaine, f.j., of Canterbury Hall in Riverview, Rita Bellefontaine of Montreal; also many nephews and nieces. Sister Marguerite's life mission was exercised as a nurse. After taking her course in Lewistown, Montana, she spent her active life taking care of the sick in the following locations: Lewistown, Montana; Grand-Mère, Quebec; and Lac La Biche, Alberta. Once retired, she kept busy teaching catechetics and doing some home care of the sick. In 2003, she and her twin sister moved back to Moncton where they became part of the infirmary at the then vice-provincial house. In 2010, they were transferred with their Sisters to Monarch Hall, Riverview.
Sister Marguerite's remains will be resting at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday, January 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a prayer celebration at 7h30. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Anselme R.C. Church, Dieppe, on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
