Hoare, M. Doreen - 78, Valley, passed away January 13, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in McCallum Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Sarah (Gourley) McCallum. She joined the Valley United Church in 1947 and was an active lifetime member of the Fireside Unit U.C.W. of Valley United Church. Doreen was a cancer survivor and member of the Hope Chest Support Group. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Arnold; children, Steven (Carol) Hoare, Valley, Beverly Erb (Neil Ripley), Beaverbank, Cheryl Johnson (Ron Geddes), Valley; grandchildren, Craig, Brett, Erica, Shane, Jarrett, Kyle, Chad, Kolby; brother, Kenneth (Joan) McCallum, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Curtis Hoare; an infant son, Garth; sister, Jean McCallum; brother, Doug McCallum. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15th from 6-8 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro; funeral service on Sunday, January 16th at 3:30 pm in Valley United Church, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley with Rev. Brian DeLong officiating. Interment at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Valley United Church.
