Passed peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Home on January 10, 2011, in his 86th year, Douglas Allison Cormier, Veteran of Second World War, former resident of North River Road, Charlottetown, and Saint John, N.B.
Loving husband of the late Dorothy (Steele) Cormier, he was the son of the late J. Norbert Cormier and Laura (Ogden) Cormier of Sackville, N.B. Survived by his children: Cathy (Pat), Mount Pearl, NL; Michael (Sherye), Edmonton, AB; Mark, Waterloo, ON; Derek (Joanne LeBlanc), Dartmouth, N.S.; Ann (Jeff Dykstra), London, ON; Elaine, Charlottetown; Andrew (Marieve Woodrough), Montreal, QC; and grandchildren: Jill (Derek Fougere), River Bourgeois, N.S.; Evan, Kristle (Mallory Gage), Edmonton, AB; Christopher, Alexandre, Sarah, Jaclyn, Katie, Natalie and Lili. Great-grandfather to Liam. Special friend to Sadie Wagner. Predeceased by his brothers, Donnell (in infancy) and Charles of Sackville.
Doug enjoyed a long and successful career with the Canada Revenue Agency, first in Saint John and then in Charlottetown, until his retirement in 1991. An avid golfer, Doug also shared an enthusiasm for fishing and amateur radio with his (late) wife Dot.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., for visitation on Sunday, January 16, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 17, at St. Pius X Church, Charlottetown, at 10 am. Interment will take place later at the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the ALS Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
