Christopher J. Dickinson of Fredericton passed away on Thursday, January 13, from complications following spinal surgery in Saint John. Born in July of 1958 to Iva and Wendell Dickinson of Upper Woodstock. Chris is survived by his long term wonderful companion, Ingrid Ginson of Fredericton; sisters Linda Ferrier and Wendy (Lyse) Dickinson of Fredericton; Cathy (Robert) Burnett of Woodstock; and brothers Frank Dickinson of Woodstock; Kim (Nancy) Dickinson of Deerville; Randy (Karen) Dickinson of Fredericton; and Stephen Dickinson of Presque Ilse, Maine as well as his nephew Jake Ferrier of Brentwood Bay, B.C. and niece Amy Dickinson of Fredericton. Chris had a long career in radio broadcasting at stations in Goose Bay and Wabush, Labrador and at CFNB Radio in Fredericton. He then worked for the provincial government in employment services for persons with disabilities until retiring early a few years ago due to health issues. He was well known around the City of Fredericton as he rode his mobility scooter with his companion Ingrid to get around to their many activities and appointments. Chris had a great sense of humour and a very quick wit combined with a strong social conscience and a desire to help others in need.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carleton Funeral Home at 337 Lockhart Mill Road in Jacksonville, N.B. with visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, January 16 from 10:00am until noon followed by the funeral service at the same location at 2:00pm that same afternoon. A small public reception will follow the funeral with the location to be confirmed that day. Although flowers are welcome, Chris would have preferred that people make a donation in his memory to any disability related charity such as Camp Rotary through Easter Seals NB.
