Linda Tutty, 56, Cole Harbour passed away on Jan. 14, 2011 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
She was born in Sydney, N.S. and graduated from Riverview Rural High School, Coxheath. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. F. X. University and then attended Acadia University where she completed her Bachelor of Education (Special Education, Elementary Education). She relocated to Alberta in 1976 and commenced her teaching career in the community of Slave Lake. She also taught in the Edmonton area from 1982 to 1990. In 1983 she completed her Master of Arts in Special Education, Elementary Education at the University of Oregon.
Linda returned to Nova Scotia in 1990 and taught in various schools of the Halifax Regional School Board. At the time of her death, Linda was the vice-principal of O'Connell Drive Elementary School, Porter's Lake, Nova Scotia.
Linda is survived by her parents, Weldon and Shirley (Fiander) Tutty of Sydney; her sisters, Cheryl MacLean (Donald), Sydney, Kim Tutty, Sydney; her brother, Ron Tutty (Audrey), Hammonds Plains; one niece and four nephews, who were all very special to her (Amy, Craig, Matthew and Jeffrey Tutty, and Mark MacLean). She is also survived by her loving dog, Bailey.
Linda was predeceased by her brother, David, and her grandparents, Killoran and Reta Fiander and Charles and Mary Tutty.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where a memorial service for Linda will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday. Reverend Katherine Bourbonniere officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Sydney.
