EISSES, Dorothy - 72, Truro Heights. The passing of Dorothy Eisses (vanEwyk) occurred at home on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Dorothy's courage, grace and strength was an inspiration to many. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bert Eisses; children, John (Shelley) Eisses, Tammi (Gerry) Boonstoppel; grandchildren, Mia, Anita, Taylor, Jessica, Spencer; brothers, Tom (Nelly), Cornelius (Lorna), Jacob, Jan (Beverly); sisters, Ann, Adrianna (Ernie) Jongkind, Connie (Allan) Barlow; Eisses-brothers-in-law, Marten (Johanna), John (Trudy), Henry (Janet), Jim (Ellen); sisters-in-law, Herma, Grayce (John) vanderPloeg, Cathy (Henk) Visser. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Laura; brother, John. Dorothy was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1952. She lived in PEI until she met and married Bert Eisses 49 years ago. She served in her church in whatever way was needed and in more recent years she made lots of meals with the social committee, ran the multi media at church and helped with GEMS. Dorothy was very creative and had many hobbies including: paper tole, painting, card making and scrapbooking. She was also able to be creative in her work at Sobeys, where she decorated cakes. She had a passion for history, working with the Truro Historical Society and was always busy and up for learning something new, even computers. The family would like to acknowledge the amazing support of her sister-in-law, Ellen Eisses, and also express our deepest appreciation for everyone of you who supported Dorothy during her illness; thank you for caring. Dorothy's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011, at John Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 169 Glenwood Drive, Truro, where a celebration of Dorothy's life will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011, Pastor Dan Brown officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Truro Heights Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Dorothy's memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Colchester East Hants Community Hospice Society are welcomed.
