It is with great sadness that the family of Madeleine Staples announces her death at Pine Grove Nursing Home on January 15, 2011 at the age of 87. Born in Fredericton, NB on April 30th, 1923 she was the wife of the late Auldon "Baldy" Staples. Madeleine was a devoted member of All Saints Anglican Church and was a past president of the ACW and of the Senior Citizens group. She took great pride in her home and family and was an avid Bridge player, loved the Toronto Blue Jays and was a Maple Leafs fan. Madeleine leaves behind her daughters, Joanne Laurence of Winnipeg, MB and Sharon Layden of Riverview, NB; son, Harold (Sheila) Staples of Fredericton, NB; sister, Florence Stickles of Fredericton, NB; a special niece, Darlene Price; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Auldon, she was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Jessie (Simms) Biles; brother, Norman Biles and sister, Margaret Biles.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB (458-9170) on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, Marysville, NB on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Canon John Cathcart officiating. Memorial tributes in Madeleine's name may be made to the All Saints Anglican Church Memorial Fund, the Shriners Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
