Sarah Vera Crowell Atkins
Sarah Atkins - 87, passed away peacefully Friday, January 14th. Sally, a resident of Chateau Gardens, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON was born in Bear Point, Nova Scotia but lived most of her married life in Montreal, PQ. She was a daughter of the late Wallace and Pearl (Langthorn) Crowell of Shag Harbour, NS, the devoted wife of the late Robert Atkins, incredibly loving mother of Linda Adair of Niagara-on-the-Lake and cherished grandmother of Ciara and Sean Brennan, Toronto, ON. A long-time volunteer at the Montreal School for the Blind and a nursery school teacher prior to that, Sally was known for her kindness and generosity. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion as well as The Wing and always willing to donate her time and energy towards good causes. Always so full of life and energy, Sally kept on the go right up until her final days. Predeceased by her sisters, Hilda Shand, Shag Harbour, NS, Betty Ross, Stoney Island, NS, brothers, Vernan, Beldon, Jack, Donald and Herbert, NS. She will be sadly missed by her many relatives and friends. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Chateau Gardens in Niagara-on-the-Lake who took such good care of mom during her stay there. A visitation and memorial service will be held at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel in Niagara Falls on Tuesday, January 18th at 10 a.m. She will later be laid to rest alongside her husband at Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal.
