Donald Stewart Waddell - age 80, Windsor, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 21, 1930, in Lady Fane, Prince Edward Island, Don was the son of the late Maurice and Edith (Stewart) Waddell. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force (1953-61) and was former owner/operator of Soft Spray Diner, Falmouth. He was a former cook at various places, including the Fundy Gypsum Ships and had also worked in sales and service for Electrolux. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Shirley Adell (Huggan); his children, Barbara (Donald) Bicknell, Barrie, ON; Ruth (Anthony Davidson), Canning, NS; Stephen (Jackie) Waddell, Windsor, NS; Phillip (Bev) Waddell, Bridgewater, NS; Patti (Dan) Morrison, Timberlea, NS; Raymond (Freda) Waddell, Three Mile Plains, NS; 14 grandchildren, Jeffrey MacLeod, Kentville, NS; Jake MacLeod, Oakville, ON; Jonathan Bicknell, Barrie, ON; Jamie Cochrane, Port Williams, NS; Jody Hiltz, Bishopville, NS; Dave Griffin, Burnaby, BC; Shantel Waddell, Moncton, NB; Stevie Waddell, Moncton, NB; Ryan Waddell, Bridgewater, NS; Cara Waddell, Beaverbank, NS; Shawna Morrison, Dartmouth, NS; Jarid Morrison, Timberlea, NS; Raymond Upshaw, Three Mile Plains, NS; Alysha Waddell, Three Mile Plains, NS; 7 great grandchildren, Liam MacLeod, Margo MacLeod, Lily MacLeod, Belle MacLeod, Jack MacLeod, Emma Morrison, Olivia Dawson, and Gina Riley; sisters, Hazel (Art) Quigley, O'Leary, PEI; Eleanor (Ron) Brown, Dartmouth, NS. Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald Maurice Waddell and Edith (Stewart) Waddell; an infant son, George Harold Waddell; daughter, Donna MacLeod; grandsons, Jason Waddell and Brendan Bicknell; sister, Marjorie Francis and her husband, Denton. Cremation has taken place, under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, and there was no visitation by request. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011, in the Church of the Nazerene, 131 Wentworth Road, Windsor. the Rev. Wensell MacLeod officiated, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be held at a later date in Wolfville. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Don, were requested to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
