Mrs. Dorothy Anne (nee Denness) Pointer of Fredericton, NB surrounded by her loving family went to be with the Lord as she passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, January 18th, 2011. She was Born November 4th, 1939 at Godshill, Isle of Wight, England the daughter of the late John Edgar Denness and Evelyn Ethel (Attril) Denness. In her passing Dorothy is reunited with her beloved late husband Dr. Roy Pointer, who from 1993-2001 was the Senior Pastor at Brunswick Street Baptist Church in Fredericton. Mrs. Pointer was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Nanna and Friend who endlessly encouraged and supported her family in their many endeavours, and celebrated their accomplishments. She loved to worship and serve the Lord and her strong Christian faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a precious gift to all and she will be greatly missed. Dorothy is survived by her five children, Angela Baker (Michael) of Fredericton, Timothy Pointer (Stacy) of Los Angeles, California, Stephen Pointer of Fredericton, Sharon Evans (Gareth) of Southampton, England and Andrew Pointer (Lori) of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Jessica Baker, Rebecca Baker, Kayla Pointer, Emma Pointer, Nicola Pointer, Caitlin Evans, George Evans, and Madelaine Evans, Hannah Pointer, Nathan Pointer and Stella Pointer. Her brothers and sisters, June, David, Carol, Jennifer, Gillian, Ronnie, Elizabeth, Robert and Michael. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother George and children Christopher and Richard.
The family will receive visitors at McAdam's Funeral Home (160 York Street, Fredericton) on Thursday, January 20th from 6:30 to 9 PM. The funeral service will take place at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Friday, January 21st, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Amos Adeniyi. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, or the Brunswick Street Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family. www.mcadamsfh.com
