WOLFE - Raymond John, age 58, 0f Swift Current, left us suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Ray is survived by his sisters, Eileen (John) Koethler, Edna (Alvin) Rempel, Janet (Ernest) Fehr; his brothers, Alan (Pat) Wolfe, Tim Wolfe, Tony (Rhonda) Wolfe; a stepsister, Elaine (Pete) Dyck; stepbrothers, Alvin (Edna) Rempel, Tim (Maureen) Rempel; as well as his friend Wayne Thornback (Ray always considered Wayne his brother); his nephews, Trevor (April) Ketler, Cory (Wendy) Koethler, Steve Rempel, Greg (Amber) Rempel, Derek (Marissa) Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Jason (Jill) Wolfe, Zachary (Tanja) Wolfe, Keagan Wolfe, Donovan Fehr; his nieces, Tracy (Blair) Philp, Kaitlyn (Derek) Neustaeter, Megan Wolfe and Ashlyn Wolfe; as well as numerous great-nephews & nieces, and step-nephews & nieces. Ray was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jacob & Maria Wolfe; his maternal grandparents, Cornelius & Katherine Wiebe; his dad, Jake Wolfe (July, 1992); his mom, Mary (Wolfe) Rempel (April, 2010); step-dad, George Rempel (January, 2007); and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ray was born in Swift Current, SK on May 26, 1952. He attended elementary school in Wymark, where his faithful dog, Tippy, would meet him everyday after school. He attended Chortitz Church when he was growing up and as a young lad at a Revival Meeting he went forward to an alter call all by himself and made his decision to be a Child of God. In later years he attended the Cornerstone Church with his Mom. Ray was born with music in his blood. He picked up the guitar at the age of eight. His Aunt Sally showed him a few chords and he was on his way with his passion for singing and playing his guitar. He entertained at many functions over the years. His favorites were Country and Gospel music. His affection for music went deeper than just playing and singing. He organized and typed the lyrics to over 5,000 different songs, carefully filing them in alphabetical order. He also knew by memory the words and music to nearly every one of these songs. Ray always took an avid interest in the lives and happenings of his nieces and nephews. He collected pictures of them and kept up to date on what each one was doing. Younger ones loved to sit on his lap or show him their many toys and older ones liked to sit with him and visit. Ray also loved sports and participated in his younger years. Flag football was his favorite. One of the highlights of Ray's life was as a member of his brother-in-law's pit crew at the race track. He lived for racing weekends and working on car #44. Ray would say that when Mom passed away this past April, he lost his best friend. He had a special bond with his Mom that could not be broken. Raymond suffered from COPD and in his memory, donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January11, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Bryon Bezanson officiating. The prelude and postlude was prerecord of Ray singing and playing guitar. "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" was sung by the congregation with Trudy Olfert accompanying on the piano. Tributes were shared by a PowerPoint presentation, Tony Wolfe and Pat Wolfe. The obituary was brought by Alan Wolfe and Tim Wolfe. Special music was "Go Rest High" on CD. The ushers in the church were Jake & Mary Driedger and Ed Klassen. The Interment Service was held at the Chortitz Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jay Wolfe, Derek Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Zac Wolfe, Donovan Fehr and Dan Klassen. In memory of Ray Wolfe, donations made to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
