Florence Julia Dice, was born on Sept. 24, 1923 in Prince Albert, SK. and passed away Jan. 15, 2011 following a long illness. Florence grew up on the family homestead in the Alingly District, attended PACI for high school and Covenant Bible Institute. She attended Prince Albert Business College and began the secretarial work that she devoted herself to. She worked as a legal secretary for several years before beginning her career as the secretary of Covenant Bible Institute and the central offices of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada. Florence loved children and taught Sunday School for many years although she remained single all her life. She loved music, volunteered for the music festivals and sang as a member of The Watsonairs for many years. Known by many people simply as Auntie Florence, she exemplified a life of love and caring for others. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Luna Dice; her sister-in-law Violet Dice (Tom); her brother Tom; a nephew Sheldon Lyons and a great great-nephew Logan Lanoie-McEwen. She is survived by her sister Eva (Victor) Lyons; her sister-in-law Sharon Dice; nephews and nieces Brent (Barbara) Lyons, Grant (Lenore) Lyons, David (Enid) Dice, Linea (Leo) Lanoie, Anne (Ed) Abramoff, Faith (Hugh) Campbell and Joye (Glenn) Kindrachuck; as well as numerous great nephews and nieces and six great great nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Florence's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Gateway Covenant Church, 1500 - 15th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Stacia Michael officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery.
