61, Wileville, passed away on June 27, 2009 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a battle with cancer. Born in Spencer’s Cove, Placentia Bay, NL, on July 2, 1947, he was the youngest son of the late Capt. Clement and Annie (Burton) Berkshire. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Mavis Mercer; son Jeffrey, Vancouver; daughters Lisa (Douglas) Laird, Calgary, Nancy, Halifax, Julie, at home; grandchildren Angus and Megan Laird, Calgary; sisters Joyce Wareham, Bertha (Gordon) Williams, Barbara James; sister-in-law Dawna Berkshire. David was predeceased by his brother Allan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial Service in celebration of David’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in Bridgewater United Church, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Private family burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Church Hall.
