William Boran

William Cecil "Bill" Boran, age 74, of Springhill, passed away peacefully, with his wife Brenda by his side on Wednesday, January 19,
2011 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Springhill, he was the only son of the Late Cecil William and Elizabeth Margaret (Dean) Boran.
Bill began work as a miner in the #4 mine in Springhill. After the explosion of 1956, Bill went on to serve in the Canadian Air Force where he remained for 34 years until his retirement. He had a lifetime love of hockey, playing in Springhill, for the Amherst Ramblers, and on the Canadian Forces team, right through to the seniors league. He was also active in baseball, darts, bowling, golf and he was a beautiful dancer. He and Brenda enjoyed summers at their cottage in Northport, NS. He was an active member of St. David's Presbyterian Church and the Royal Canadian Legion.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Brenda Reynolds, Springhill; sons, Bradley, Germany and Dale, Edmonton, AB; step- daughters Kari (Chuck) Morse, Cape Cod, Mass, Amy (Rodney) MacDonald, Valley, NS, 5 grandchildren, Pasquel, Wesley, Morgan, Ryan and Erin, who knew him as Opa.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361), where visiting hours will take place on Monday from 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a Legion Memorial Service Monday night at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday,
January 25, 2011 at 3:30 pm, Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery in the spring.

David's Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
