1938 - 2011 - Dale Wilbur passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, January 21, 2011. Born on May 7, 1938 in New Horton, Albert County, son of the late Claude and Mabel Wilbur. Dale served as a fireman in the Air Force and later tried his hand at various jobs including; trucking, taxi, Hastings Fire Tower Watch, helping Mental Health clients. He operated B&D Boat Rentals in Fundy National Park for many years before starting his own Aquaculture Business raising mussels and later oysters. Dale believed in the value of hard work as part of a healthy life. He loved his family, Dale enjoyed nothing more than a gathering at the house or lake with family and friends, music and laughter. He was in rhythm with nature and understood how to make almost anything work. He loved singing and making music and enjoyed traveling especially on the open road. He was generous and enjoyed helping others. He had a wonderful, if quirky, sense of humour, loving to tease. He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara Gebuhr, two sons Allan (Debra Spellman) and Ira (Erica Muise), three daughters Suzanna Norman-Breau (Bea), Debbie Murphy (Peter) and Sasha Wilbur. Also survived by his grandchildren; Steven (Tanya), Virginia, Melissa Butland (Ryan), Nathan (Clare), Matthew, Mitchell, Rebecca, Emily and Four great grandchildren. Brothers Neale (Rose) of Harvey, Donald of New Horton and Harold (Daphne) of Hillsborough, brother-in-law, Carl Gebuhr (Carol), Paul Gebuhr (Karen Bean), sister-in-law Jean Pasko and Laurie Gebuhr as well as his former wife Norma (Woodman); numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dale was predeceased by one brother-in-law Tom Pasko.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at The Family Life Center of the Hillsborough Baptist Church from 2 to 3 pm followed by a funeral at 3 pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Riverside-Albert Volunteer Fire Department, Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
