G. Murray Webb

The death of Murray Webb of Fredericton, NB occurred on Friday, January 21st, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born March 14th, 1918 in Hibernia, Queens Co., NB he was the son of the late Maurice and Lulu (Machum) Webb and husband to the late Gladys (Eden) Webb. Murray joined the Canadian Navy in 1939 and was posted to Fort Ramsay in Gaspe, Quebec where he was a Petty Officer (writer). Murray and Gladys were married in Gaspe July 15, 1945 and moved to Moncton where he worked for Lounsbury Company. In 1958 they moved to Fredericton where he was Parts Manager of Lounsbury Industrial until his retirement in 1979. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1971. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and in 1967 he was the Worshipful Master of Hiram Lodge and treasurer from 1981 to 1987. He was also a member of the Royal Arch Chapter, Royal and Select Masters, Scottish Rite, Shriners and St. Anne's Conclave. He was a charter member of the Fredericton Golden Club. He was a member of Christ Church (Parish) Church and a member of Men's Club, Couples Club, and the vestry where he served as Senior Warden and participated in the Finance and Building Committees. He enjoyed bowling with his Golden Club friends and he was avid bridge player. Murray is survived by his daughter, Joyce D. Thomander (Kevin) of Fredericton, NB; four grandchildren, Glenn Thomander (Mandy Silk), Beth Thomander (Paul Cleary), Craig Webb, Keith Webb and Randy Croft (Alison); two great-grandchildren, Sadie and Joey Croft; two brothers, Alden Webb (Georgie) of Queenstown, NB and Lloyd Webb (Reta) of Lower Millstream, NB and his daughter-in-law, Nancy McQuade-Webb. Murray was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Gladys; his son, Gerald M. Webb and two brothers, Kenneth Webb (Betty) and Lester Webb (Florence).
Visitation will take place at McAdam's Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Hiram Lodge No. 6 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 at 1:00 pm with The Rev. Anthony Kwaw and The Ven. John Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later date.
