It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bride Dyer on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bishop Falls, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Florence Graham.
Bride was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Sydney. She enjoyed playing darts and video games, reading, camping, and listening to music.
Bridgette is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gordon; her children, Arlene (Tom), David (Lynn), Randy (Shelley), Gary and Kenneth, all of Sydney, four wonderful grandchildren, Carissa, Laura Beth, Jake and Brandon. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Pierre (Barry), Codroy Valley, N.L.; brother, Reg (Mary) Colbourne, Sydney; dear friend and sister-in-law, Delores Graham, as well as several nieces, nephews and close friend, Bev Sollazzo.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nellie Graham MacDonald and brothers, Jim and Sam Graham.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held today (Tuesday, Jan. 25) at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Sydney Pentecostal Church, Victoria Road, Sydney.
Reception to follow in the funeral home reception area.
The family would like to send a special thanks to longtime family physician, Dr. Greg Myatt, thank you to the doctors, Dr. Ritter and Dr. Gowan, the nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit, especially, Sharon Barron and the VON, for all their support, compassion and going the distance for Bride, we truly appreciated it.
