RIVERTON – Dorothy Belle (Stewart) Rutledge, 83, of Riverton Trailer Park, formerly of Stellarton, passed away at home, peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones on July 3rd, 2009.
Dorothy was a daughter of the late Wellener and Pearl (Borger) Stewart.
Dot was always ready for a game of cards and enjoyed any card party she could attend, but she dedicated herself to her family.
She spent her life doing for others, her home was always as full as her heart and the teapot was always on.
Dot is survived by sons, Gary (Rihana), Toronto; John (Hardy), Stellarton; daughters: Pearl (Fred) MacInnes, Edmonton; Beatrice (Carl) Spears, Westville; Jennie (David) Misener, Pictou Landing; Sheila (Kenny) MacLeod, Riverton; 11 grandchildren; eight great–grandchildren; as well as sisters, Beatrice Godden, Halifax and Twila McMaster, Wentworth; daughter-in-law, Linda McKean; chosen daughter and son, Jean and Cecil Dean, Calgary; special friend, Hazel Chickness, Stellarton.
Dot was predeceased by sons: Joseph Wayne and Stewart “Stew” Eric who recently passed away on May 21st, 2009, in Edmonton. His remains have returned home to Nova Scotia and will be remembered along with his mother, Dorothy.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the H. W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow, with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating.
Private family burial to take place in Lorne Street Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Dot may be made to Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
