Charles Edward Haley, age 85, of Gull Lake, Sk. passed away January 19, 2010 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, Sk. A Memorial Service was held Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from Knox United Church, Gull Lake, Sk. with Reverend Eva Stanley officiating. Special music was preformed by Paulette Hadden and David Hagel. The organist was Sharon Dahl, pianist was Millie Spagrud and saxophone was King Gin. The Ushers were Allan Collier and George Harvey. The urn bearers were his grandchildren Jenna and Devin. An honor Guard was formed by members of the Gull Lake and District Royal Canadian Legion and honorary pallbearers were all who shared in his life. The interment will take place at Gull Lake Cemetery at a later date. Charles is survived by Francis Nault, his companion of 15 years; sons Doug (Debbie) and Dwayne (Bonnie); grandchildren Devin and Jenna (Derek); great grandson Konnor Charlier; brothers Ron (Ellen) and Cliff; sisters Evelyn (Clyde), Donna (Owen), Beth (Doug) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Jessie, his wife Maude and his son Don. Charles was born on July 19, 1925 in Weyburn, Sk. He attended school in Tompkins, Sk. He married Maude Millington of Craik, Sk. in August of 1947. After serving with the R.C.A.F. during World War ll, he worked briefly in Moose Jaw before going to Barber School in Regina. He opened a shop in Tompkins, and when it burnt down he moved his business to Gull Lake. Together, he and Maude operated the barbershop and hair salon until 1985 when they retired. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, The Chamber of Commerce, and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Charlie loved his flower garden and spent hours tending his flowerbeds and wonderful tomato plants. He loved talking and telling stories to everyone he met. He will be sadly missed but fondly remember by his family and friends. In his memory, memorial donation maybe made to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxiliary.
