(1921-2011) - Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 23, following a lengthy illness. Born May 15 in Egmont Bay, PEI, he was the son of the late Augustin and Hilda (Gallant) Arsenault. He was retired from Eastern Bakeries with over 46 years of service. He lived at 'O Bons Soins' residence in Shediac since 2008, and in Moncton prior that time. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1310. Dad was a successful athlete in his time, particularly in billiards, bowling and his favourite sport, golf. And, what a crib player. Edmond thoroughly enjoyed his brief stay at 'O Bons Soins'. He loved the atmosphere, the food and especially the friendly staff. He was friends with everyone, but particularly with Mathias and Ron 'Bouncer'. He is survived by his six children: Yvette Garland (Jim) of Riverview, Louise Beers (Bob), Father Yvon Arsenault, Donald Arsenault (Renée Normandeau) and Maurice Arsenault, all of Moncton, Michel Arsenault (Debbie Surette) of Dalhousie; two sisters: Lina Gauvin (late Léo) of Dieppe and Elmonde Tingley (George) of Hillsborough; two brothers: Léonard (Jeanne) of Dieppe and Edouard 'Sunny' (Carolyn) of Riverview; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-sons: Conrad Belliveau (Lise), Normand Belliveau and Jean-Marc Belliveau; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Liliana (Cormier) in 1993; his second wife, Marie (LeBlanc) Belliveau-Arsenault in 2008; three brothers: Ernest, Raymond and Joe.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, January 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until departure (10:15) at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Moncton, on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. The Arsenault family has requested that contributions to the Sgt.
