We regret to announce the passing of Darlene Hoeg, 54, on the morning of Jan. 21, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Marguerite (Barrie) Hoeg. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.
Raised in Alder Point, Darlene was always smiling and looking her best. She enjoyed taking daily walks, shopping and her bingo games. She knew how to touch peoples' hearts and give life advice to anyone who was in need of guidance. She was a devoted family member. She will be remembered as a proud, loving mother to Walter, Charles, Candace and Kevin, and loving grandmother to Zachary and Jackson. Also left to mourn are several sisters and brothers. She will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of the ones she touched.
Visitation for Darlene Hoeg will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Tuesday), Jan. 25, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Gloria McClure Fraser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Darlene's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
