Joseph Losier
(1915-2011) - After a long and productive life, the death of Joseph Vincent ("Vince") Losier, husband of the late Jean (Gilbert) Losier, occurred on Wednesday January 19, 2011 at his residence, The Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Tracadie, NB, Vince was the son of the late Francois ("Frank") and Justine (Comeau) Losier. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Newfoundland and Labrador. His culinary skills, learned as a youth while working with his father in lumber camps, led to a lifetime occupation as a chef, largely in the kitchens of the DVA Hospital. He lived most of his adult life in the Martinon-Grand Bay area where he was a willing volunteer. Vince delivered Meals on Wheels and served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Bayview Credit Union and as a Cub Scout Leader with the Ketepec Scout troop for 18 years. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9176. In more recent years, one of his great joys was singing, especially in the choir at St. Matthew's Church, and he loved traveling to the Caribbean with his family. Besides his wife and parents, Vince was predeceased by brothers John, Arthur and Eugene Losier, sisters Yvonne Losier, Amelia Morden, Irene Furlotte, Cecilia Simpson, Catherine (Katie) Ryan and Regina Smith along with four infant siblings. Vince is survived by five children: Rev. Lynn (Elmer) Uzans of Kentville, NS, Lee (Peter) Wilson of Grand Bay-Westfield, Grantley (Brenda) Losier of Moncton, Pamela (Donald) Leaman of Cobourg, ON, and Maj. Gregory (Heather) Losier of Embrun, ON; 10 grandchildren, Drea (Joe Gillis) and Nicole Uzans, Dr. Scott (Dianne deChamplain) Wilson and Travis (Marise) Wilson, Carol (Cameron) Dunn, Lori (Chris) Miller and Garett Leaman, Hillary, Rachel and Veronica Losier; 8 great-grandchildren, Guillaume, Zacharie and Mireille Wilson, Alec and Noah Wilson, Colin and Owen Dunn and Sage Miller. Also surviving are brothers William and Ronald (Diane) Losier, sisters Betty Anne Overend and Anita Whalen, sister-in-law Eileen Losier, brother-in-law Jack Simpson and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care they provided during Dad's final years.
