Olive R. Driscoll (nee Pack), RN

Passed peacefully away at Saint Luke's Home, Saturday,January 22, 2011, in the presence of her family Olive Driscoll in her 94th year. Born Gunridge, Bay Bulls, March 9, 1917. Predeceased by husband Lloyd (2001) and brothers: Harry, Gordon, and Donald. Left with loving and precious memories daughter and son-in-law Janet and Bruce Short, Portugal Cove - St. Philips; son and daughter-in-law David and Dorothy Driscoll, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, and cherished grandson Stephen Short. Remembered by sisters: Shirley (Cec Pelley); Gladys Benson; and brothers: Herbert (Jenny); Weston and David (Leslie) and members of the Driscoll family. A graduate of the Salvation Army Grace Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1942, Olive served as Cottage Hospital nurse in various parts of the Province. Worked at the Fever, the General, Public Health and the Grace Hospital, retiring from her part-time work with the A.R.N.N. at the age of 80 years. An active member of both her community and her church. The family wishes to acknowledge and express sincere appreciation and thanks for the "extraordinary care and compassion" provided Olive by the staff and dedicated volunteers of Saint Luke's Home, especially those of Pleasantview Terrace. Olive is resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, January 25, 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Craigmillar Avenue. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive's memory may be made to Saint Luke's Home, c/o 24 Road Deluxe, St. John's, NL A1E 5Z3 or the Anglican Parish of St. Michael and All Angels Building Fund, c/o 50 Pippy Place, Unit 20B, St. John's A1B 4H7.
