Allan Bryan Nybo passed away peacefully on January 17, 2011 with his family at his side. Allan was born, in Vanguard Saskatchewan to Stella and Knute Nybo on July 22nd 1930. He lived on the family farm in the Hallonquist district and attended the Nybo School. Allan was confirmed in the Hallonquist Lutheran Church in 1944 and attended Swift Current Collegiate and Luther College Bible Institute in Outlook, Sask. In later years, he served on the counsel for the Hallonquist Lutheran Church. Allan's treasured early memories included riding his favourite horse 'Bunny', bread freshly baked from Grandma Nybo's oven and his "super-hardy three wheeled bike" which made countless trips over country trails. On October 9, 1954 he married Peggy Holmes of Herbert Saskatchewan and lived in Swift Current for 10 years (1954-1964) during which time four children, Loreen (Lory), Pamela, Kathy and Bryan were born. He was employed by the Pioneer Co-op and drove a semi-tanker to and from the Regina refinery. In June 1964, Allan and Peggy began farming full time on the family farm in Hallonquist. In 1966, their fifth child Tom was born completing their family. Allan and Peggy spent many years on the farm (1964-2001) operating a mixed farm. In the winter, Al and Peg liked to travel and spent time in Mesa or Casa Grande, Arizona. They took caravan tours to the Mexican Baja and their bus tours included Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. They enjoyed several trips to Hawaii, the Queen Charlotte Islands and the east coast of Canada. Al also enjoyed an agricultural tour with his cousin Ron Nybo to England and to other parts of Europe. Allan was passionate about the land, his family and friends. He loved curling, dancing and travel. He made every effort to attend his grandchildren's activities which ranged from band and dance concerts to a host of sporting events. To the dismay of many, and to the faint of heart, Allan was also passionate about his lutefisk. In his last year, Allan celebrated life to the fullest, attending the World Women's Curling Games, a summer holiday and birthday celebration at 'Camp Nybo' in the Cypress Hills and the Centennial of the Nybo family farm. He was able to truck most of the grain in this past harvest, celebrate Christmas with his family and made it to coffee clutches up until the week before he died. Allan loved life and life loved him. He will be remembered for his humour, his laugh and his kindness. Allan Bryan Nybo was predeceased by his parents Knute and Stella and sisters Cleo Hamilton and Ruth Moraes. He is survived by his wife Vivian Peggy Nybo and his 5 children Loreen Dawn (Nybo) Feser, Pamela Gaye (Nybo) Plewis and her husband Jim, Kathy Joy (Nybo) Scherger and her husband Tim, Bryan Allan Nybo and his wife Kerrie and Thomas Knute Nybo and his wife Laurie. Allan is survived by 11 grandchildren Kathrine Feser, Ryan Plewis (Jennifer), Mark Plewis (Erynn), Jillian Plewis, Lane Scherger, Kale Scherger, Morgan Nybo, Tyler Nybo, Torie Nybo and Devon Nybo. Allan is also survived by 3 great-grand children Campbell, Sawyer and Mila Plewis as well as by his sister Janice Newcombe and his brother Barry Nybo (Vera) and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Swift Current Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The memorial service will be held at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church at 2 pm Monday January 24, 2011 with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. Donations in Allan's memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre at 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4T7T1 or to Lutheran World Relief care of St. Olaf Lutheran Church 665 Central North Swift Current.
