It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Douglas Brown age 67, of Amherst and formerly of London, ON announce his passing on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at home.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Richard B. And Ruth E. (Kizer) Brown.
Ron started his career in 1963 in the Canadian Armed Forces. From there he moved into the Law Enforcement field in 1967 where he served as a constable on the London Police Force as well as Criminal Investigations both locally and provincially. Among his achievements include certification in Criminal Intelligence, Human Relations and Communications, as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner. Ron devoted over 35 years to law enforcement and was quite recognized as an exceptional police officer in the London ON force in the late 60's-early 70's and made the local papers fairly consistently for going "beyond the call of duty". If you asked Ron what his most important achievement was he would tell you his children. Ron retired and returned to his hometown of Amherst NS in March 2010.
Ron is survived by one son Richard D. (Shari) Brown of Sexsmith, AB, daughter Theresa (Allan) Gadd of Sherwood Park, AB, and their mother Sharon Dickson of London, ON, daughter Nicole Brown of London, ON; grandchildren Zaekk, Brooke, Kyle, Mitchell, Amanda and Trinity; sisters Bonnie (Raymond) St. Peter and Kathy (Darrell) Smith both of Amherst, brothers Richard (Diane) of Amherst Head, Charles (Linda) of Amherst and Ken of Halifax, beloved friend Christine Bird of London and many other extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by a daughter Rona.
His family will receive visitors to celebrate Ron's life at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, NS (902-667-9906) on Saturday, January 29th., 2011 from 7-9 p.m.
