Sister Jeanne Casavant passed away peacefully in Saskatoon at St. Joseph’s Home at the beautiful age of 88 years. Sister Jeanne was born, December 3rd, 1920 in Vonda, SK. In 1938 she pronounced her first vows in the Congregation of the Daughters of Providence. Sister Jeanne began her mission work in her home town of Vonda, and then spent a number of years at our Whitefish Reserve. She also served in St. Louis, St. Brieux, Saskatoon and Longueuil, Québec. She will be remembered for her great spirit of hospitality and service. She was always ready to lend a helping hand. From 2003 to 2007 she moved to an Assisted Living Accommodation in Saskatoon. In 2007, she entered St. Joseph’s Home after suffering from a stroke. She was predeceased by her parents, Edmond and Nora Casavant; sisters, Rita, Eva, Diana and Aurore; brothers, Ernest, Armand, Léo, Oniel, Ephraim, René and Paul. She leaves to mourn her Religious Congregation; the Daughters of Providence; her sisters, Alice (Kusch), Thérèse (Dupuis); brother, Arthur as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sister Jeanne’s family and the Daughters of Providence wish to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Home for their kindness and compassionate care. Also, many thanks to Rev. Father Bernard deMargerie for his visits and spiritual care. Vigil for Sister Jeanne will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by Rev. Father Bernard deMargerie and Rev. Father Rhéal Bussière on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:30 a.m; both services at Sts Martyrs Canadiens Roman Catholic Church (1011 Windsor Street), Saskatoon.
