Passed on: July 5th, 2009
It is with deepest sadness and the heaviest of hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved beautiful daughter Kelsey Dawn Keeling, 17, on Sunday, July 5, 2009.
Born in Sydney, Kelsey was the daughter of Marion (Keagan) Russell and Clifford Keeling.
She attended Holy Angels High School in Sydney and was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Kelsey loved life and everyone and everything around her. She loved nature and the wilderness. She always saw the ‘diamonds’ in the snow in winter and spent hours at the beach in the summer. Kelsey loved animals and her beloved ‘Roxy’ could always be found close by her side. She loved sports, playing volleyball, basketball and watching her brother play hockey.
Besides her mother and father, left to mourn is her much adored big brother’ Josh (Megan), North Sydney; her stepfather, Roger Allain; and her paternal grandparents, Sam and Leora ‘Tootie’ Keeling, Florence. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Peter and Marion Keagan, and uncles, Michael (Pete) and Eddie Keagan.
A private family visitation will take place at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass celebrating Kelsey’s short but fulfilled life will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Society of Cape Breton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
