Eleanor Mildred Smith - 81, of New Minas, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lockhartville, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert "Arthur" and Elsie (Weagle) Smith. She had been a homemaker and worked for a period of time at the Historic Inn, Wolfville and Allen's Motel, Kentville. Eleanor was also a former member of the New Minas Seniors. She was a foster mother to many and had a great love for all children. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Anne Marie (Muise) Levy; two sisters, Gertrude (Earl Weatherbee), Lower Wolfville; Shirley (Elmer Brown), Greenfield; a brother, Lloyd (Gwen), Lower Sackville; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith and Thelma Smith; two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one great grandchild, six step-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Levy; two sons, Daniel "Murray" and Dale; two sisters, Cloris Smith and Doris Smith; two brothers, Robert and Keith. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiated. Burial will take place at a later date in the Greenfield Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital.
