Stanley Francis Swindells - 67, of Pereau, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Rockingham, he was a son of the late Bert and Violet (Shunamon) Swindells. He had been employed with Archibald Farms for 37 years, retiring at the age of 60. He was a past president of the Annapolis Valley Side Band Club and enjoyed woodworking, bowling and camping. He was an avid golfer and a former member of both Ken-Wo and Eagle Crest Golf Clubs and will be sadly missed by two of his closest golfing buddies, Linda Trefry and Don MacKenzie. He is survived by his wife, the former Madeline Gammon; two sons, Tim (Cynthia), Halifax; Mike (Tammie), Kentville; a sister, Nancy Swindells, Halifax; three grandchildren, Maria, Jacob and Corie; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Ralph. He was also predeceased by his canine companion, Budd, who he missed dearly. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 in the Pereau Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Mark Parent and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Pereau Baptist Church.
