CROSBY, Arnold Keith - 76, North River, Colchester County passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on January 23, 2011. Born in Lake Annis, Yarmouth County, Arnold was the son of the late Merle and Mae Crosby (Stepmother Ada). Arnold loved the outdoors, especially working in the woods, fishing and hunting. He had a true appreciation for all that nature had to offer and had an expert knowledge of the woodlands. He loved telling stories of his adventures in the outdoors and on occasion was known to embellish some of the details. Arnold graduated from Maritime Forest Ranger School in 1964, and was honored to be class valedictorian. He began working for Scott Paper Company soon after and continued to work there until his retirement in 1989. Arnold felt that he was blessed to have the opportunity to spend his career working in the woods. Correspondingly, he never considered his work as a job. Arnold is survived by a loving family - his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Gordon) Crosby; daughter Darlene Crosby (Dave Hamilton), grandson Andrew Spears ( Amber MacDonald), great-grandsons, Aiden and Asher; daughter Karen Works ( Fred), grand-daughter Nicole, grandson Alex; daughter Marsha Crosby ( Ron Kee), grand-daughter Hannah, grandson Reilly Delta B.C.; son Randy Crosby ( Nancy), grand-daughter Paige. Arnold is also survived by his brother Bill (Joy) Crosby, Trenton, Ont.; sister Polly Horton (Sonny), Brenton, Yarmouth County; sister-in-law Heather Crosby, Ottawa, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnold was predeceased by his twin brother Arthur Crosby. Arnold made many great friends over the years as was evident during his illness with the numerous visits and phone calls. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 27 at First Baptist Church, 759 Prince Street Truro. A reception followed the service in the church hall. Family flowers only.
