Helen Elliott (Atkinson) Porter
Porter, Helen Elliott (Atkinson), 75, Fort Belcher, passed away at home on Saturday, January 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jacquet River, N.B. on June 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Earle and Ella (Watt) Atkinson. Helen graduated from Colchester County Academy in 1953 and from Eastman Dental Clinic, Rochester, N.Y. in 1955. She worked for a time at the Department of Health, but her life's work was in her home and her community. Helen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald; daughters, Beth (Terry) MacMichael, Debert, Patti (Kevin) Budd, Woodstock, N.B., Susan (Bob) Derosier, Exeter, New Hampshire; sons, George (Barbara), Fredericton, N.B.; Alan (Jennifer), Fort Belcher; twenty-two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Florence) Atkinson; in-laws, Frances Pash, Dawn Porter, Joyce and Don Goodspeed; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean (Clifford) Allen and members of her husband's family, Ernest Pash, Dorothy and Glen Rice, Arthur Porter, John and Vivian Porter. At her request there will be no formal service following her cremation. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later date.
