Cameron,Ethel Mae, 83 passed away early Monday morning, January 31,2011 at Valley View Villa Riverton. She was born on January 19, 1928, in East River St. Mary's to the late Chester and Myrtle (Tait) Gunn. She resided in East River St. Mary's all her life. Before her marriage she attended "Normal Collage" in Truro from where she obtained her permissive license to teach school. She then taught in Green's Brook and Rocky Mountain for a short time. In 1949 she married Henry Cameron and they lived all their married life in East River St. Mary's. A life long member of Zion Presbyterian Church, she taught Sunday School, Bible School and in later years was substitute organist. She loved her "groups" and held offices in AMS, Women's Institute, and the Fire Department Auxillary.During her last years at home she very much enjoyed the weekly Bible Study with her "Buddies" and Calvin.She was a homemaker for not only her own children but for all the children of the neighborhood. There were usually more around the table than just her own. The pass times which gave her pleasure were taking on a cause, writing letters to the editor, crossword puzzles, reading books, listening to CBC, listening to music, singing, plants , her garden, and feeding the birds. She was one of "The Gunn Sisters" singing group. Her faith was important to her. She always said "Family is everything to me". She is survived by her seven children, Donald(Joan) Lochaber, Ian, Calgary, Mary(Pat) Calgary, Barrie,Igloolik, Jane(Billy) Pictou Landing, Irene(Phil) Middle Sackville, Annabelle, New Glasgow, Grandchildren Ashley, Nakita, Billijane, Allison, Justin, Hope, Cole, Mitchel and Morgan. sister Edith(Elmer)Greene, East River St. Mary's, brother James(Donna) Red Deer Alberta, sister-in-law Katherine MacDonald, New Glasgow,brother's in-law Arnold(Dorothy) Cameron New Glasgow,
Gordon(Anna) Cameron, East River St. Mary's, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Henry her husband of 55 years, sister Frances and brother-in- law Lawson MacKean, sister Ruth and brother-in-law Stanley Cameron.and brother-in-law Franklin MacDonald.Visitation will be Friday Feb.4 from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the H.W.
Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary's at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday Feb.
5, 2011 with Rev. Calvin Crichton officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetary East River St. Mary's. Reception to follow at the East River St. Mary's Fire hall. Monetary donations in memory, may be made to your local food bank.
